thank for the sharing, it is very nice, I tried to use the string of normal bass and put it on my u bass, and I have intonation problem , the note at 12 fret will have halt note Sharper than the tuned open string. is it because of the normal scale length bass string?

If double basses weren't so expensive, I'd buy one.

Hello thanks so much for this information; 🙏🏾 I just received my “Luma Koa Ukulele Bari Bass” today. Unfortunately it doesn’t have the lil black strap knob on the bottom. 😢 I’m wondering would it be safe to have one installed? Also it’s hard to see how you have the strap attached on the top by the nut? 🤷🏽‍♀️ It’ll be awesome if you don’t mind sharing were you purchased your strap?

Great video! I tried on the same day as getting my Kala U-bass. Was very disappointed about the low volume of the E-string. You can easily test if your U-bass is suffering from this issue: Press hard on the E-string right above the saddle. If you hear a "click" noise when doing this, it shows that there is no tight contact between the saddle and the piezo. I used this video as reference for the modification, but I only cut the saddle between the E string and the A string (using a proper saw :-) and left the other three sections together, because only the E-string had a volume issue. That immediadetly removed the issue! The e-string is still a little "wobbly" due to its thickness, but the volume is now nearly the same as the other strings. If Kala reads this: Please fix it, it is definitely a design flaw.
